Temporary worker onboarding in Michigan that starts before the first shift
Temporary worker onboarding at RHO Hiring begins before the first shift at your Michigan site: safety training and assignment-specific prep, free for workers, followed by check-ins with both the worker and your supervisor during the first days on the job. The first few days determine whether a new worker will stay. Speak with us at (248) 843-0000.

The majority of issues with a new temp worker occur during the first few days. They aren't sure where to go, what the job requires or how fast the line moves, and nobody around them has time to explain. Some cause expensive errors. Some get injured, and some just don't return. Onboarding and skills training is how RHO Hiring helps those first days run smoothly.
Ahead of their first shift, every worker is walked through safety training with RHO (reporting injuries and hazards, PPE, equipment guidelines, warehouse and plant basics, lifting safely, working in the heat and cold), followed by onboarding specific to your site: step-by-step what the job entails, pace, quality standard, when your shift starts, where to enter, what to wear, who to report to. We develop it from instructions you provide about the job and any site rules or orientation content you send us. Training is offered to workers at no cost.
On day one, the worker is greeted, oriented and introduced to their supervisor and job by either an RHO supervisor or account manager if the account has one on site. Your team teaches hazards specific to your worksite and trains workers on your equipment because you know it best. You also evaluate and authorize forklift operators on your trucks before they drive.
After the first shift and over the first few days, RHO follows up with the worker and with your supervisor: what is working, what is difficult and what the worker needs to learn next. If a skill is lacking, we provide coaching. If the job isn't the right fit, we move the worker to a different job they are better suited for or replace the worker. If the worker switches jobs at your location down the road, the same process is repeated with the new position.
Prepared before day one
Workers get safety training and job-specific onboarding before their first shift, so they aren't learning the basics on day one.
Followed through the first days
RHO follows up with the worker and your supervisor after the initial shift and throughout the following days.

What do RHO's onboarding and training cover?
Safety training
Reporting injuries and hazards, PPE and equipment rules, plant and warehouse fundamentals, lifting, and heat and cold, all prior to the first shift.
The job, step by step
Description of job, how fast it goes, and expected quality standard.
Your site's expectations
Start time, entrance, parking, breaks, clothing, PPE and who to report to are communicated before the worker arrives.
Your own material
Your site rules, orientation sheets or videos become part of the preparation when you share them.
A first-day welcome
New starts met, shown the job they will be performing and introduced to their supervisor.
Check-ins in the first days
RHO checks in with the employee and your supervisor after the first shift and in the following days.
Coaching where it's needed
Supplemental instruction on skills the worker is in the process of learning, as identified by your supervisor.
Preparation for a new job
Onboarding for a different job at your site when a worker transfers to it, before they start.
How onboarding can be set up
Mix them as your floor needs. Your manager sets it up with you.
- 1One new start at a time
Every new worker prepared individually for their first shift, for accounts with occasional new starts.
- 2Group starts
A batch of workers trained together for a new shift, new line or peak, with day one planned out.
- 3Day, night and weekend starts
Every new start on any shift gets the name and number of their RHO contact prior to their arrival.
- 4Single site or several
Facility specific onboarding so that if a worker transfers between your facilities they understand the rules of each facility.

Signs your new starts need better onboarding
- New temporary workers spend the first morning learning where things are
- People leave in their first week
- Supervisors repeat the same basics to every new start
- Mistakes in the first days slow the line
- Workers arrive without the right shoes or PPE

Onboarding and training questions
Don’t see yours? Call 248-843-0000 and a manager will answer it.
Does training cost workers anything?
No. Workers do not pay for safety training or job-specific onboarding. RHO provides both prior to their first shift as part of the assignment.
What does RHO cover, and what does our site cover?
RHO provides safety training and job-specific onboarding before the first shift, and follow-up during the first days on the job. Your site teaches the hazards specific to your operation and how to use your equipment. After all, you know it best. Details are agreed upon before day one.
Do you train forklift operators?
We provide experienced forklift operators familiar with the type of trucks you have. Since the evaluation is done on your trucks and in your aisles, your facility evaluates and authorizes each operator prior to driving. Our guide to forklift operator training under OSHA covers who owes who what.
Can we give RHO our own orientation material?
Yes, please. Site rules, orientation sheets or videos, or even a note on what a successful first week looks like, all factor into prep so workers know what to expect when they arrive.
What if a new worker struggles in the first days?
Inform RHO. We talk with the employee and your supervisor, coach where a skill is lacking, and either reposition the employee to a more suitable role or replace them when appropriate.
How long does onboarding take?
It depends on the job being filled. General labor doesn't require as much prep time as something that has a strict quality standard. We work with you to schedule it when we take the order so that it will work with your start date.
