Machine operator staffing for Michigan factories and production lines
Machine operator staffing from RHO Hiring places operators and machine assistants on presses, molding machines, packaging equipment and automated lines all over Michigan. RHO workers are matched to each machine's function and are ready for the plant floor when they arrive. Call (248) 843-0000 and a manager will return your call, typically within a couple of hours.

A machine operator loads material into a machine, starts the machine and runs it. They observe what the machine is producing and keep it running by clearing jams, inspecting parts for correctness as per spec, counting and calling for assistance when necessary. Depending on the plant, the machine could be a stamping press, injection molding machine, preset CNC machine, packaging or filling machine, or automated line station.
Operator jobs can range from entry-level machine tenders (someone else sets up and programs) all the way up to seasoned operators who make adjustments, run gauges and maintain records. RHO Hiring finds out where yours falls on that spectrum: what machines, what materials, what cycle times, what quality controls and what safety procedures operators need to follow (machine guarding, your lockout rules, etc.). Then we find workers to match it and prepare them for your specific site requirements before they step foot in the door. Our guide to staffing a production floor explains the other positions a plant needs to run.
Michigan factories typically run operators on either 8-hour or 12-hour shifts, often around the clock. Weekend and overtime hours are scheduled as business needs rise. RHO staffs all three shifts and weekends. Because good operators are hard to find, temp-to-hire is a common way to retain the operators that excel at working your equipment.

Matched to the machine
We inquire what the machine does, how it loads and what the operator inspects, and pair people with similar experience.
Ready for the plant floor
Employees are screened for dependability, trained in safety prior to starting work and are oriented to production-line expectations.

What machine operators handle
Loading and unloading
Feeding stock or parts into the machine and removing completed pieces in sync with the cycle.
Running the machine
Starting, running and stopping equipment as per your procedures, and monitoring it during the shift.

Inspecting parts by eye or against gauges or templates, and setting aside out-of-specification parts.
Clearing jams
Clearing of jams and obvious stoppages (to the extent allowed by your procedures), with maintenance calls for the rest.
Counts and records

Assist a lead operator: stage material, remove scrap, pack parts and keep the area around the cell clear.
Station housekeeping
Maintain a clean workplace following your plant's safety guidelines.
Safety procedures
Following guarding, lockout and protective equipment rules every time, without shortcuts.
Ways to staff machine operators
Mix them as your floor needs. Your manager sets it up with you.
- 1Entry-level machine tending
Operators who load, unload, and tend machines which others preset.
- 2Experienced operators
Operators who have operated similar equipment previously and who can make adjustments, do quality checks, and maintain records.
- 3Every shift
Day, night and weekend shifts, including 12-hour and around-the-clock schedules.
- 4Temp-to-hire
A way onto your payroll for operators who show what they can do on your machines.

When do you need more machine operators?
- Machines sit idle because no one is there to run them
- Your best operators spend shifts covering for absences
- Scrap rises when new operators run the line
- A new contract or line is starting without enough operators
- Supervisors are running machines instead of supervising

Machine operator staffing questions
Don’t see yours? Call 248-843-0000 and a manager will answer it.
Do your operators set up and program machines?
Most of our placements are operators and machine assistants that operate equipment that someone else sets up. If setup or adjustments are part of the job, please specify when placing your order. We recruit from people that have that experience and those searches may take longer.
How is machine operator staffing priced?
By the hour worked. The rates vary depending on experience level required for the job, shift worked, overtime, head count and duration of assignment. Experienced operators cost more than machine tenders because the job pays better. You are quoted before anyone is dispatched.
Who trains workers on our machines?
RHO teaches workers about safety ahead of time and acclimates them to production-line realities. Your facility trains them on its specific machinery, processes and hazards. After all, no one knows a site better than the people who run it. We plan with you ahead of placement what will happen on day one.
How fast can machine operators start?
Machine tenders are easier to find than experienced operators. Someone from management calls you back (typically within a couple of hours) to review the job, and we provide you with a realistic start date when we take the order.
What if an operator doesn't work out?
Inform your RHO manager. We'll investigate and if it's not a match we'll terminate the assignment and look for someone who is more compatible with the machine.
Can we hire operators permanently?
Yes. Temp-to-hire is a typical path for operators. Direct hire works when you know you want to hire the worker. The terms for converting a worker to your payroll are outlined in your contract with RHO.
