Direct hire staffing for Michigan plants and warehouses

Direct hire staffing in Michigan is how you fill jobs you want to keep permanently: RHO Hiring locates and screens candidates, you interview and decide, and the individual you select is on your payroll starting day one. Call (248) 843-0000 and a manager will return your call, typically within a couple of hours.

How does direct hire staffing work?

With direct hire staffing, RHO Hiring searches and screens, you interview and select, and the candidate you select becomes your employee on day one. Direct hire works best with positions you don't want to bring on as a trial: a shift lead, a quality inspector who will own a process, a veteran operator you plan to build a line around.

We learn the job inside and out: the work involved, the equipment they'll use, the shift they'll work, the pace they'll keep, who they'll report to and why others hired before them succeeded (or didn't stay). Then we recruit (including from the workers and applicants RHO already knows), screen applicants for reliability and attention to detail and interview them about the job, the shift and your company. You meet the candidates that fit, not a pile of resumes.

Since the individual never works for RHO there is no hourly bill rate or employment on our end. You make the offer, determine pay and benefits and manage onboarding. We communicate with you and the new employee during the first several weeks to ensure that small issues don't turn into an early resignation. Your manager discusses how the search will be priced prior to beginning.

Direct hire works best if the job is permanent and you are willing to hire. However, if you want to see how someone works first, consider temp-to-hire. Many employers use both direct hire and temp-to-hire: direct hire for leads and top-tier positions, temp-to-hire to fill their frontline. Our guide to temp, temp-to-hire and direct hire compares the three.

  • Your employee from day one

There is no working period on RHO's payroll. The employee you hire works for your company and gets paid by your company from day one.

  • Candidates who fit the floor

We find out what job, shift and site you need first so that the people you interview will have the experience and availability the job requires.

What does RHO do in a direct hire search?

  • A job profile

The job, the tools, the shift, the tempo and what success looks like, documented with you before we recruit.

  • Recruiting

Our searches include RHO's workers and applicants, individuals who apply through our Southfield office and new applicants as well.

  • Screening

Candidates pass through RHO's screening for reliability and attention to detail. They are asked about the experience the position requires.

  • A short list

You are only seeing candidates who match your criteria, with experience and availability notes so you know interviews will be worthwhile.

  • Interview scheduling

We schedule interviews around your supervisors' schedules and communicate with candidates so great people don't slip through your fingers.

  • Offer support

We communicate your candidate's stated availability so your offer meets the needs of who you want to hire.

  • Follow-up after the start

We follow up with you and the new employee during the first few weeks, while small issues are still easy to resolve.

Direct hire options

Mix them as your floor needs. Your manager sets it up with you.

  1. 1Single key jobs

Shift lead, quality inspector, seasoned operator or any other position you need filled correctly.

  2. 2Several hires at once

Building a permanent crew to run a new line, a new shift or a new building.

  3. 3Night and weekend jobs

Filling permanent jobs on undesirable shifts, where we actively recruit people who want those hours.

  4. 4Temp-to-hire instead

If you want to see someone work before you commit to hiring them, the search can be run as temp-to-hire.

When does direct hire staffing make sense?

  • A permanent job has been open for weeks
  • Your supervisors don't have time to screen applicants
  • You need somebody that's going to stay and grow into a lead role
  • Job posts bring in candidates who don't fit the shift or want the work
  • You're opening a new line or plant and need a permanent crew

Direct hire staffing questions

Don’t see yours? Call 248-843-0000 and a manager will answer it.

How is direct hire different from temp-to-hire?

With direct hire, they hit your payroll the first day and are never on RHO's payroll. With temp-to-hire they start out on RHO's payroll during their working period, then you hire them after seeing them work.

How is direct hire priced?

It's not charged by the hour because this person is working for you, not for RHO. Your manager will explain how the search is priced before starting it so you can compare costs to what the open position is costing you in overtime and lost production.

How long does a search take?

It varies by position, shift and how many qualified people are in the region. A manager will contact you, typically within a couple of hours, to begin your job profile. We provide you with a realistic time frame once we know the job details.

Who handles payroll and benefits?

You do. If you make a direct hire, that candidate is your employee from day one, on your payroll and receiving your benefits. RHO never employs them.

What if the new hire doesn't work out?

Let your manager know as soon as you can. We discuss what happened and what that means about the role. If you're interested, we restart the search with this new information.

Does direct hire mean we skip the interview?

No. You interview the candidates RHO recommends. You decide who gets hired. We prescreen, so your interviews will be with qualified candidates for the job, shift and pace.
